Hi, I’m Roz — and This Is the Season I’m Finally Finding Myself Again

When I launched my new website and this new blog, I knew I didn’t want to only showcase beautiful images. I wanted this blog to be honest. Personal. Human. A reflection of how motherhood — the fog, the identity shifts, the rediscovery — has shaped the way I show up as a photographer. Because the truth is, my motherhood journey hasn’t just changed me as a woman… it’s fundamentally reshaped the heart of my photography brand.

So here it is. A not so polished post, that hopefully gives you a glimpse into what motivates me as a Boulder & Denver based photographer.

The Hardest Part of Motherhood That No One Talks About

As a motherhood photographer, it hit me recently that the hardest part of motherhood wasn’t the chaos. It wasn’t the tantrums, the sleepless nights or the endless loop of meals, laundry, schedules, and logistics.

It was losing myself in it.

My daughter just turned five, and my son will be three this spring. And for the first time in a long time…
I feel like I’m resurfacing.

I’m remembering the woman I was before the fog. And meeting the woman I’ve become through it.

Motherhood Changes You – And So Does Finding Your Way Back

No one prepares you for how much motherhood reshapes you from the inside out. The days become a rhythm of survival and sweetness:

• snacks
• big feelings
• small hands
• errands
• laundry
• dishes
• bedtime
• repeat

There is so much joy woven into the chaos… but joy doesn’t erase the identity shift. It doesn’t change the moments when you look in the mirror and wonder where your softness, your confidence, your creativity, your sensuality went.

I adore my children. I love our life. And also?
I missed myself.

The Headshot Swap That Turned Into a Homecoming

A few weeks ago, some friends and I met up at Realm Denver for a simple headshot swap. I thought it would be a fun creative playdate — a way to laugh, catch up, and step in front of the camera for once.

But it became something deeper.

Standing there observing the bright window light & the dark contrasting shadows, I felt something shift. Not dramatic, not loud — just a quiet remembering. A recognition that two things – the light & the dark – seemingly in opposition can co-exist to create something extraordinarily beautiful.

A reminder that I am still a woman.
That my body is mine to celebrate.
That confidence can be rebuilt.
That identity isn’t lost — it’s layered.

That I am a loving mother, and a sensual being.

Seeing the images that my friends captured felt like looking at an old friend and whispering,
“There you are. I’ve missed you.”

Why My Experiences Matter for My Photography

This identity rediscovery has shaped the way I photograph mothers, families, and creative women and the moments that become stories because I know what it feels like to be in the thick of it. I know what it means to want connection captured honestly & to be free from the pressures of perfection.

In my own motherhood journey, I know how precious it is to be seen — truly seen — during seasons when you barely recognize yourself.

As my photography brand has evolved, my work is rooted in:
